Sunflowers

I have always been meaning to plant some sunflowers, so last November I purchased a pack to plant.

I originally planted them in a styrofoam box, and when they got bigger transplanted them into various pots and a 1/2 wine barrel.

 

One in particular has been an interesting plant.

This sunflower has 29 buds on 1 plant - for every leaf there is a bud, ready to flower.

Not all the flowers will be out at the same time, due to the size of each bud.

but the ones at the top have all flowered within a short period of each other resulting in 6 flowers on 1 plant at once.

 

 

 

 

It is quite amazing
