I have finished painting the front entrance and hallway.
(still have finicky finishing to do ie: sand floors and paint skirtings etc...)
One piece of furniture I moved into the front entrance was a long console.
This was originally in a room off the lounge, but had to be moved to make way for the piano.
This was originally in a room off the lounge, but had to be moved to make way for the piano.
The entrance was the ideal spot to move it to.
Once in place I decided to 'jazz it up' a little.
My main ideas were either to.....
paint glossy black
paint white
paint a bright colour
I decided on the bright colour, and to tone in with the spiral staircase I chose a greeny blue.
The colour I ended up deciding on was
'Wattyl - Persian Turquoise',
and rather than paint the whole console I decided to add some interest with crackle detail on the legs and drawer fronts, and to leave the top & bottom plain wood.
Similar to something you may find in an Asian Antique shop.
BEFORE
and.......
AFTER
The whole process was quick and easy.
I just painted the legs and front drawers with a crackle medium (from art store).
After waiting the required time (between 3-12 hours) I then painted over the crackle medium.
The front of the console, bit across the bottom and side edges
I just painted plain (no crackle) in 2 coats.
The top and slats at the bottom were left as is
I LOVE the result
