New, New, New

A new addition to the family
A new addition to the house (well a revamped floor)
A new direction for 2014

2013 was a busy busy year.  The business was extremely busy, and I was also studying and working
part-time.
This year I will be taking a step back from the business and whilst still keeping my lovely stockists stocked up with goodies I won't be actively seeking any new ones.
I will be focusing on creating some lovely pieces for Salamanca Market and The Market that will be limited edition pieces or one-offs.
I will also be putting some of these onto my online store.
(So keep popping in so you don't miss out)
I have so many ideas and last year was so busy that I missed the opportunity to get into the studio and play.
I will also be continuing my part time job at a new school this year and am uber excited at have been given new opportunities.
I will also be (hopefully) getting some long needed things completed around the house and garden.
So all in all I am looking at a more balanced and joyful year.

The new addition to the family is
'Pepper'
She is our new kitten that we brought home before Christmas.
She has settled in really well and I do think she is secretly a furry ninja in disguise!!
She has the most amazing mix of speed, craziness and loving that really suits our family.

You may also notice the flooring
Yes I finally ripped out the old ugly lino in the front entrance
and stenciled the floor.  It has turned out fantastically well and lightens up the whole front entrance.
Look at the before and after photos below.

Yes... It was a real dumping ground and a mess before!!!

our front entrance was a mess & a dumping ground for bits & bobs

What I've Been Doing

bottle vases waiting to be sponged and bisque fired

owl salt & pepper shakers waiting to be fired

slipcasting bottle vases

It's been a bit quiet on the blog lately
and that's because I have been super busy in the studio
With more goodies to get to my stockists before Christmas I have been flat out.
Needless to say the house is a mess and the garden overgrown, but I plan to take a few days off before Christmas and tidy all that up.
These last few weeks I have been busy making for stockists and haven't had the time to get extra stock made for the Markets, so that has been a little disappointing.
Hopefully I can crank into full gear and get some new bits and bobs out in time though.
This Saturday I will be at Salamanca
and on Sunday I will have some of my bottle vases being sold at Design Made at Princes Wharf.

A Change of Pace

**** 2014 ****
Will see a change to magoolie
The business has grown significantly and I had to either
*employ another person, train them, pay them superannuation etc..
(which also meant more bookwork)
Or
*take a step back, cut out some stockists and breathe a little
I have decided to do the latter, as I really enjoy my current part-time work as a Teacher's Assistant and want to continue this.
I am also hoping that this will give me some time to work on some limited edition and one-off pieces
for an exhibition, as well as change direction towards doing some public commissions and larger scale pieces.
I would also love to be able to tidy the house, work in the garden and do some renovations.
I am really excited about 2014 and am looking forward to having a better balance of work, rest, creating and play!!!
But don't worry I will still be designing and creating, and will build up my website to include some limited edition pieces, plus I will still be at Salamanca Market and other selected markets.

Gardening

Due to my heavy workload at the moment my garden has really suffered.
The weeds have taken over most of the garden, the lawn needs mowing and lots of things need trimming back.
I am hoping to get some little jobs done soon.
But in the meantime some inspiration
These images have been in my inspiration folder for quite some time, so I don't have any image credits  - Sorry

great seating

 Lovely combination

Perfect pathway for a beachy look

Green roof (maybe I could do this to my shed)

Enjoy the weekend and remember
